Like a triangle hit with a bone saw

Our gums were aching
They'd had us cut it with some pain meds

and we hit the open road

I get that moonbeam iridescent chill
that cuts right through me, like I've never been alive
And if you kiss me, I receive the key to central mysteries
That have eluded priests, scholars and mystics
Since the very dawn of time

We went out dancing, and we set up shop outside the treeline
We had to contend with all the monsters
and the hairy ghost of time

And if you thrill me, it's like a callback to the ones that built me
and I could not think that it was owed me
what I lost in being born
I had no conscience, I was nothing but a pile of motions
A few tightly controlled eruptions, some instructions and a cord

We made the best boys in the whole wide world
And that's not nothing, you could hold the rest of what I've done
That's worthwhile in the head of a pin
We make some good noise, it's not a symphony
But it's a real nice type of sound to me
I wouldn't trade it for the whole oeuvre of Beethoven

The light's fantastic
and the sky smiles down bright and sarcastic
and it makes me think of taking drastic
measures to prove you my love
There was some kindness that I could have shown
Some special congress that we could have held
To keep the pot warm while we were away

It's just like the moon's reach
